Mango drift is based on Likoma Island which is in the middle of Lake Malawi. When you arrive on the island, its a quick stamp of passports (if you are coming from Mozambique) and then you are taken on a short drive to Mango Drift. You actually walk the last 200m or so which is great as it’s tucked away from passing cars and too many people. At Mango Drift they have thatched huts nestled on the beach of Likoma Island on beautiful Lake Malawi; as well as beautiful en-suite chalets, with verandas overlooking the lake; an en-suite dorm for 7 and an expansive beach you could camp on. The rooms are beautiful and right on the beach too so taking a few meter walk into the aqua waters for a morning dip is quite the norm! When we arrived our bed was scattered with pink flowers! I felt like I’d arrived on honeymoon… your days are spent chilling at the bar where you can order an array of meals for breakfast and lunch and supper is usually a choice of 2 selected dishes for the day and everyone sits at one big table and has a feast! They also have an array of water sports that you can do or you could get a lift to St. Peter’s Cathedral which is well-known as the largest one in the whole of Africa!
Truly an unforgettable place!!!
