About Kim Steinberg

Born in South Africa in 1982, Kim developed a love for the outdoors, Africa, wildlife and its people which grew in her from a young age. From early on she began studying art but is mostly self taught. She has worked in many mediums, but at the moment her preferred mediums are acrylics and oils as well as her love for photography, which has recently won her first and second place in the Getaway Magazine's 'Desert' theme competition in August 2010, a successful exhibit at the 7th annual art exhibition in Eshowe and some of her paintings are currently displayed at Peter Engblom's "Zulu Sushi" Gallery at the George Hotel in Eshowe. Kim is a trained interior decorator, and using her artistic eye, has decorated some beautiful homes as well as also creating some fantastic murals for lodges, bed and breakfasts, businesses and private homes. "I use art and photography to express my thoughts, emotions and passions. It has allowed me to discover who I am and find out what I have to say. I feel the connectivity of one thing to another and try to express these connections. I am inspired by the play of light, shadow, sheer colour, movement and atmosphere.” You can expect top quality work done by this new upcoming artist who is fast becoming a local celebrity in her own home town in Natal.
